These satellites orbit approximately 35,786 kilometers above the equator and travel in the same direction and at nearly the same rotational speed as Earth.<br>Because the satellite\u2019s orbital period matches Earth\u2019s rotation, it continuously observes the same region. This makes geostationary satellites particularly valuable for applications that require constant monitoring, such as weather forecasting, storm tracking, telecommunications, television broadcasting, and atmospheric observation.<br>One of the major advantages of geostationary orbit is its ability to provide a broad and continuous view of Earth. A single satellite can monitor large areas and repeatedly observe changes without needing to pass over the region on each orbit.<br>However, geostationary satellites also have limitations. Their great distance from Earth means that they generally provide lower spatial detail compared with satellites operating in lower orbits.
