The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) has revolutionized our understanding of the universe. Launched in 1990 aboard the space shuttle Discovery, Hubble was the first major optical telescope to be placed in space, far above Earth\u2019s atmosphere. This unique position allows it to capture images with a clarity that ground-based telescopes simply cannot match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Telescope Above the Clouds<\/strong>
Hubble orbits Earth at an altitude of approximately 547 kilometers (340 miles), completing a full orbit every 95 minutes. By operating above atmospheric distortion, it avoids issues like light pollution and air turbulence, enabling astronomers to observe the cosmos with unprecedented precision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hubble was designed to be serviced in space, a bold choice that has extended its lifespan far beyond initial expectations.
