While cities grow at rapid speed, the planning that supports them often lags behind in precision, integration, and foresight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>This blog explores four major infrastructure or urban development projects\u2014from Asia\u2019s mega cities to small districts\u2014where poor spatial decisions led to significant failure. The message is clear: no amount of budget or ambition can overcome flawed mapping and bad geospatial assumptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dongtan Eco-City (Shanghai, China): Vision Without Ground Truth<br>Dongtan was introduced in 2005 as China\u2019s answer to sustainable urbanism\u2014a green, car-free, self-sufficient city outside Shanghai.
