Khususnya pada tanaman kelapa sawit, walaupun kelapa\u00a0sawit dapat tumbuh pada keadaan lahan yang ada, tetapi setiap tanaman memiliki karakter\u00a0yang\u00a0membutuhkan persyaratan\u00a0yang\u00a0berbeda.<\/p>\n<p>Tanaman\u00a0kelapa\u00a0sawit\u00a0merupakan\u00a0salah\u00a0satu\u00a0jenis\u00a0tanaman\u00a0perkebunan\u00a0yang\u00a0menduduki\u00a0posisi\u00a0penting\u00a0dalam\u00a0sektor\u00a0pertanian\u00a0umumnya,\u00a0dan\u00a0sektor\u00a0perkebunan\u00a0khususnya.\u00a0Hal\u00a0ini\u00a0disebabkan\u00a0karena\u00a0dari\u00a0sekian\u00a0banyak\u00a0tananam\u00a0yang\u00a0menghasilkan\u00a0minyak atau lemak, kelapa sawit yang menghasilkan nilai ekonomi terbesar per hektarnya di\u00a0dunia. Tanaman Kelapa sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) merupakan tanaman yang memiliki\u00a0sebaran adaptasi cukup luas, dapat tumbuh pada berbagai agroekosistem dengan baik dan\u00a0memberikan potensi produksi yang optimal mulai dari tanah-tanah di lahan kering (Ultisol,\u00a0Inceptisol, Oxisol) hingga tanah-tanah yang berkembang di agroekosistem rawa pasang surut\u00a0(Gambut,\u00a0sulfat masam).<\/p>\n<p>Kelapa sawit memiliki banyak keunggulan dibandingkan dengan tanaman penghasil\u00a0minyak nabati lainya. Beberapa keunggulan itu antara lain adalah produksi per satuan luas\u00a0yang tinggi, umur ekonomis yang panjang dan produknya dapat digunakan dalam berbagai\u00a0industri\u00a0baik\u00a0pangan\u00a0maupun\u00a0non\u00a0pangan.\u00a0Produksi\u00a0kelapa\u00a0sawit\u00a0sangat\u00a0beragam,\u00a0yang\u00a0disebabkan oleh beragamnya karakteristik tanah dan lahan di areal kelapa sawit. Tingginya\u00a0keragaman produksi tersebut, menghendaki adanya informasi yang obyektif tentang sifat-sifat\u00a0setiap jenis tanah, agar tindakan manajemen tanah dan upaya yang dilakukan bersifat spesifik\u00a0dengan\u00a0hasil\u00a0yang\u00a0maksimal.<\/p>\n<p>Secara umum, terdapat 3 syarat tumbuh untuk perkebunan kelapa sawit yaitu kondisi\u00a0iklim,bentuk wilayah dan kondisi tanah.\u00a0Umumnya pengembangan tanaman kelapa sawit\u00a0oleh perusahaan besar yang membuka untuk kebun inti dan plasma terletak di lahan kering.\u00a0Pada berbagai kajian menunjukkan bahwa tanah yang tergenang di kebanyakan tahun dengan\u00a0sifat aquic (sulfat masam) dan juga gambut tergolong memiliki kelas kesesuaian lahan aktual\u00a0sesuai\u00a0marjinal\u00a0(S3)\u00a0hingga\u00a0tidak\u00a0sesuai\u00a0(N1)\u00a0dengan\u00a0status\u00a0kesuburan\u00a0rendah,\u00a0namun\u00a0memiliki\u00a0potensi produksi hingga\u00a022\u00b130 t TBS\/ha\/th.<\/p>\n<p>Kesesuaian\u00a0lahan\u00a0untuk\u00a0perkebunan\u00a0kelapa\u00a0sawit\u00a0juga\u00a0dapat\u00a0dilihat\u00a0dari\u00a0unsur\u00a0pemilihan lahan. , pemilihan lahan yang sesuai dengan syarat tumbuh tanaman, manajemen\u00a0yang\u00a0tepat\u00a0serta\u00a0pengelolaan\u00a0kebun\u00a0dilakukan\u00a0secara\u00a0berkelanjutan\u00a0dan\u00a0lestari.\u00a0Untuk\u00a0memperoleh informasi maksimal mengenai kondisi lahan yang ditanami kelapa sawit, perlu\u00a0dilakukan\u00a0evaluasi\u00a0lahan\u00a0melalui\u00a0kajian\u00a0kesesuaian\u00a0lahan\u00a0dengan\u00a0mengetahui\u00a0hubungan\u00a0karakteristik\u00a0lahan dan produksi kelapa\u00a0sawit.<\/p>\n<p>Lahan pasang surut umumnya terdiri dari jenis tanah gambut dan tanah sulfat masam.\u00a0Tanah\u00a0gambut\u00a0adalah tanah\u00a0yang terdiri dari\u00a0bahan\u00a0organik lebih dari 20\u00b130%, dengan\u00a0kendala utama drainase buruk, daya sangga tanah\u00a0yang rendah, penurunanan permukaan\u00a0tanah, kandungan hara relatif rendah, tingginya Fe, Al, dan S, serta kemasaman yang tinggi\u00a0akibat asam-asam organik yang bersifat meracun terhadap perakaran tanaman. Sedangkan\u00a0tanah sulfat masam (aktual\/potensial) selain memiliki drainase buruk juga tingkat kemasaman\u00a0tinggi\u00a0akibat adanya\u00a0lapisan pirit.\u00a0Kemasaman\u00a0yang\u00a0tinggi dengan\u00a0pH<\/p>\n<p>Menurut data yang di dapat oleh BPDB Kelas kesesuaian lahan di klasifikasikan\u00a0menjadi\u00a0empat\u00a0golongan\u00a0yaitu :<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>KelasS1\u00a0:\u00a0unit\u00a0lahan\u00a0yang\u00a0tidak\u00a0memiliki\u00a0lebih\u00a0dari\u00a0satu\u00a0pembatas\u00a0ringan<\/li>\n<li>KelasS2\u00a0: unit\u00a0lahan\u00a0yang\u00a0memiliki\u00a0lebih dari\u00a0satu pembatas\u00a0ringan<\/li>\n<li>KelasS3: \u00a0unit\u00a0lahan\u00a0yang\u00a0memiliki\u00a0lebih\u00a0dari satu\u00a0pembatas\u00a0sedang<\/li>\n<li>KelasN1\u00a0:\u00a0unit\u00a0lahan\u00a0yang\u00a0memiliki\u00a0pembatas\u00a0berat\u00a0yang\u00a0dapat\u00a0diperbaiki<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa Lahan yang ditanami masyarakat untuk kelapa sawit\u00a0tidak dipilih kesesuaian lahannya, yang utama adalah luasan kepemilikan lahannya sendiri,\u00a0dengan\u00a0keyakinan\u00a0bahwa\u00a0kelapa\u00a0sawit\u00a0yang\u00a0mereka\u00a0tanam\u00a0akan\u00a0berproduksi.\u00a0Rakitan\u00a0teknologi kelapa sawit rakyat di lahan pasang surut beragam antara petani.
